I need to set this up: This is a “flashback” image of a battle scene from the “Hollywood Kid Wars.” The wars followed the collapse of civilization brought on by the viral plague that shortened the human lifespan to 21 years. In Los Angeles, ultimately after many skirmishes two sides squared off – the Eastside Gangsta Motherf**kers versus the Westside Killer Dudes. The war raged on for many years…

Not that I don’t love kid-killing-kid action, but where the hell did they get all those guns and what I can only interpret as explosives?

Looks to me like looted military equipment taken from the bodies of adult soldiers who died of the virus.

Clearly no one here has been to LA, those are pop guns compared to some of the stuff people have in their homes. It’s kinda scary.
Awesome image, really shows just how far gone things got.

The M16A4 is anything but a “pop gun”. Guns are guns they all have the potential to be lethal.
Saved this Image.. its my wallpaper now.. love it, love the comic, the story, everything. Keep up the good work!

UneasyMind – Thx so much for your comments. Very much appreciated. They help…mos def.

I’ve been following this comic since day one and I gotta say I’m lovin it so far.
I gotta agree with Uneasy and add something on the gun comment. It’s not about the size of the round that makes a gun deadly, it’s about how you place the shot.

This is the coolest thing… ever!
I find myself looking at this for the longest time trying to figure out the story behind it. Also found the gang names hilarious. I almost want to know more about this conflict than sundogs story. And now it’s my desktop.
By Jono on Aug 14, 2009 | Reply
If Sundog ‘n’ co. managed to lay their hands on that little lot, all I can say is that hunting buffalo would be a piece of piss. But how is a little kiddo holding an M16? I know they’re made of plastic, but they’d still weigh a damnned lot.

Great scene!
Was there a regular update as well this week? The “latest” button takes me here, and going backwards takes me to the previous storyworld update. I can’t seem to find an archive page which shows thumbnails or titles of all pages so far, and I’m not about to click through the entire archive, since I can just wait for the next regular update and go backwards from there. The short list with links to the five latest updates you used to have on the front page for the comic was really nice.

The M16A4 only weighs about 8.5 pounds with a full clip.
By mgSoulCraft on Aug 15, 2009 | Reply
Gillsing- Yes this is the last update. Basically, to reiterate, I’ve been a lazy arse – ok it’s a wee bit more complicated than that – and need to send pages 38+ to the letterer who adds dialogue and sfx. That will happen soon. Meantime, I will need to post more preview images that are not chronological or in order. Oh and the recent updates module was replaced with a TRIBES button because some readers requested it. That said, any and all updates are available on the homepage at SoulCraftComics.com, which a blogroll of everything. Truth be told – I need to refine the website but seems like good wordpress programmers are hard to find.

This image still has me in Awe. I want another one from a different part of the world.. like maybe the frosty hills of Russia or the (sorry for the slang) rice pads of China, or downtown Hong Kong. Oh, one from Australia would be cool too! This comic makes me go crazy with inspiration!

Awesome pick like the whole comic… This picture just makes me dread what my home country of South Africa would look like

Alternative gang names:
The Liber-teens
The Freenagers.
Just because I think these ones are a bit duff, really.
By mgSoulCraft on Aug 20, 2009 | Reply
Jono-
Duff? Please define “duff”?
And which are duff?

Jono i dont mean this to be mean but you must remember these names are supposed to be made up by kids not teenagers or adults so the names are meant to be a little silly or duff

Can we expect a new comic this up coming monday?
By mgSoulCraft on Aug 28, 2009 | Reply
I will post something but the next page – 39 – is very dialogue heavy – a lot of backstory is explained – and I have not sent 39+ to the letterer yet. Next week definitely, but I will post a preview page…

That, my friend, is what you would call a good question.

Like ALL internet comics. They want to start a comic online and “hook” people, than start printing books and not updating (or rarely) the online comic. VG cats, Zombie Hunters, Looking For Group, Last Blood, and now this one too.. watch for irregularity in updates.. its the first sign.
By mgSoulCraft on Sep 21, 2009 | Reply
Well yeah whoa what a revelation – ya got me. Actually I plan to post at least forty (40) more pages before the book is published. And if u want to run a website and post pages for free, hey be my guest. I do want people to buy the book. Call me crazy.

Hi everybody. I just wanted to let you all know that the reason that the comic has not been updated in the last weeks is simply because I felt I wanted to retouch a lot of pages, just small revisions on the drawings. Eva (the colorist)is only 4 pages from finishing the book(177 pages long), so this means that every single change I make to the pencils in this stage, needs to be recolored and therefore can’t be sent to the letterer until this is done. Everybody involved in the making of TRIBES wants this book to be as perfect as possible, there’s a lot of love put in it. It’s my fault only, but only because I really want to give the best I can to you. And so does Mike(Geszel) and so does Eva(who is OK with recoloring so many parts just so the book looks great). We’re dedicating a lot of extra time to every single page, from the script to the final art. And I hope you’ll be able to feel that!

To be honest I will be first in line at the store to buy your graphic novel. There’s no shame in wanting to get paid for something that you love doing.
Posting on the web for ideas and sharing and even “hooking” people is the fastest and best way to reach everyone. I would be doing the same thing you are, looking for odds and ends that needs touching up.
Just if you guys dont post a new page at least post a update on what you guys are up to this week and the such, the comic is too cool to be left outta the loop ><
By mgSoulCraft on Sep 22, 2009 | Reply
UneasyMind – you are right, we should post weekly updates if only informative and we will. Thank you for pointing that out. I am going to post another preview page, nay TWO preview pages, right now!
