it flew in the sky, just like a bird and the helicopter was black, hence ‘a black bird’. I doubt it’s much of a coincidence and more of naming what Sundog saw from his own experience (or her own experience, depending on the point of view). We still do the same today … coincidence that a hawk hovers in the sky searching it’s prey?

Totally agree about the borrowed time and the accident also left me wanting … red warning/alarm light, expression of fear mixed with empathy (hand on the glass reaching out to help) and disbelief … what happened?

oh, and love the comic by the way

Borrowed time? No kidding. At this rate he’ll have to start stealing it.
It’s a little oblique as to what the accident was, though.
And a black bird? It was a black hawk helicopter… Coincidence.

I guess I’m dense, but I’m not entirely sure what the accident is supposed to be. The expedition brought the plague back with them?

Blinzler- Agree with your comment about the narration, especially in the last panel. That will be removed. Had decided to cut it but didn’t want to bug the letterer right now.
